Honestly I think I had enough with both Next.js and also Vercel. By the time this post was written, I had been using those two stacks to deploy this blog and while it could really deliver such a great experience in the integration, CI/CD, and basically improving my workflows altogether, I felt that I couldn't be fast enough in pushing changes. Most of it caused by how slow Next.js with my current system and how the promised "speed" didn't meet my expectations. Like seriously, they said that the page navigation should be great with the loading and yada yada yada boundaries being applied, but after I searched thoroughly on how to improve the user experience, I ended up with zero improvements. It's getting really unbearable at this point that I want to just stop.

Though, after digging up some stuffs, doing analysis on the project, I did find that Material UI is really taking a lot of toll for the system to load. I mean, yeah, understandable, it's the (in)famous Material UI. Looks really good on presentation, but I didn't think I had the capacity just enough to properly use this and maintain this project using MUI. I think I want to completely move to shadcn UI because I've been using it on other project and it works too damn well. Like, the speed is just amazing, customization is all on your hand, and basically it cleared up my fear of a fancy UI that performs really bad. I'll take one last shot to rewrite the dashboard into using shadcn UI before taking the final verdict whether I'm moving from Next.js or not.

But one thing for sure is that I will move out from Vercel just because it didn't really give the promise of fast loading for not-recently-visited-routes-but-already-visited. I somewhat understand that this is natural as they would wipe the cache for the least recently visited routes after a while, and given my blog is just being used by me, it doesn't really work well. I'll need to work on the better integration with, let's say, deploying it on my VPS, and I do think that it's doable. It's better to get away from Vercel before things just getting too "vendor-locked".
